The cornerstone for the First Baptist Church in Homer was placed in 1893. The congregation celebrated the church's centennial in 1993, but dwindling congregational size finally forced its doors to close, with the remaining members transferring to nearby Cortland.
Today, the stately building houses the Homer Center for the Arts.
