DH6379 - USDOI - '161 SIS 10.05' BM - Siskiyou County, CA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

I recovered this U.S. Dept. of the Interior BM from 1966 in good condition. This disk is monumented on top of a headgate and contains the elevation stamping of '4083.67' on its face. The NGS datasheet is adequate for disk recovery with the exception that the first datasheet log of 1968 is incorrect. It was monumented in 1966 based on the year stamped on the disk face. For some reason, this disk does not exist on Geocaching.com.

IN SISKIYOU COUNTY AT POSTMILE 10.05 ABOUT 19KM NORTHWEST OF TULELAKE, 18KM NORTHEAST OF DORRIS, AND 26KM SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF KLAMATH FALLS OREGON. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF
HIGHWAY 139 AND HIGHWAY 161 HATFIELD GO WEST ON HIGHWAY 161 3.46KM TO
MALONE ROAD ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE WEST ON HIGHWAY 161 5.63KM TO
MERRILL PIT ROAD ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE WEST ON HIGHWAY 161 5.89KM
TO A DIRT ROAD ON THE LEFT. TURN LEFT AND GO 56 M TO THE STATION ON
THE LEFT. THE STATION IS A US DEPT OF THE INTERIOR BUREAU OF SPORT
FISHERIES AND WILDLIFE BRASS DISK EPOXIED TO A CONCRETE HEADGATE WALL
1.5 M NORTH OF AN ORANGE CARSONITE WITNESS POST, 4.1 M EAST OF THE
CENTER OF THE DIRT ROAD TO THE USFW MAINTENANCE STATION, AND 56 M
SOUTH OF THE YELLOW STRIPE OF HIGHWAY 161.

THIS STATION WAS OCCUPIED AS A PART OF THE CALTRANS NORTH REGION
HEIGHT MODERNIZATION PROJECT.
