The canal flows from the inland woollen town of Leeds to the coastal sea port of Liverpool, crossing the Pennines along the way.
The canal is no longer operational for commercial traffic but is popular with leisure boaters.
Next to the warehouse is the first lock on the canal that was built to give access to The River Aire and the Aire and Calder Navigation.
