This church was build from 1858 to 1862. It is the fourth church on this place. The oldest one was destroyed by a fire in the year 1622.
Inauguration was on 31 August 1862 by the bishop Wilhelm Emanuel von Ketteler. Accordingly the plaque outside of the church entrance reads: Catholic parish church St. Johannes. Build 1858-1862 under the command of bishop Wilhelm Emanuel von Ketteler on basis of constructions plans made by Ignaz Opfermann, Mainz.
The size (approx): height of the spiry: 50 meter; length: 50 m, width: 23 m; height: 23 m. Since 1950 there are again four bells in the spiry, weighting 3,986 kg in total.

Einweihung dieser Kirche war nach 4jähriger Bauzeit am 31.8.1862 durch Bischof Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler. An dieser Stelle standen bereits vier andere Kirche. Die älteste war 1622 abgebrannt.
Die Größenangaben zur Kirche (ca.): Turmhöhe 50 m, Länge 50 m, Breite 23 m, Höhe 23 m. Seit 1950 läuten wieder 4 Glocken, die mit einem Gesamtgewicht von 3.986 Kg die nun fast doppelt so schwer sind wie ursprünglich geplant.
