The Olde Bull Inn on the west side of the Market Place in the centre of Caerleon is Grade II listed. It is an old coaching inn with medieval origins evidenced in the Upper Hall roof and the second storey Perpendicular windows, three to the main elevation and one on the side elevation, also agree with this. The inn was given a considerable refurbishment in 1925 when the mock timber framing was applied and the windows and ceilings changed but photographs from earlier in the C20th show that the front door into the cross-passage had already gone before then. The ground floor has been opened out into one interconnecting bar, but the different spaces can still be recognised.
The building has a wholly rendered exterior, probably over local rubble stone, with mock timber framing on the upper floor, Welsh slate roofs. It has an L-shaped plan, with the main range facing the Market Place and the wing facing the High Street, but the angle between the two has also been infilled by a later wing.
The two-sided sign on the High Street elevation shows a prize-winning Hereford Bull in the central roundel, the wording 'Ye Olde Bull' above, and '15th century inn' below. It is well worn and suspended on a wrought iron bracket
