Hellisheiði is a geothermal power plant and has several displays to show how the plant operates. Although there is a fee to see most of th exhibits, these drill bits are in the lobby and can be viewed free of charge. A nearby sign indicates that the drill bits are encrusted with diamonds to grind through the hardest soil layers.
