The baroque Trippstadter castle was built in the 18th century.
The building consists of two floors and a basement. The building is single-leaf and is 48 meters long, 19 meters wide and 18 meters high. It was built by Franz Karl Joseph von Hacke.
Architect was Sigmund Jacob Haeckher. Completed was the building in 1776.
On 13.07.1794, the castle was partially destroyed of the French revolutionary troops.
Over the next hundreds years it changed owners. Today's it is state-owned and is home to the Forest Research Institute of Rhineland-Palatinate.
