Merom Founded 1817
A log courthouse here served as Sullivan's first county seat from 1819-1842. Merom was an important river port and a stop on the stage route ~ The Old Harrison Trail. Harrison's troops camped near here on their 1811 march to Tippecanoe.

Several historic markers in town. one on the town council lawn, (text above). The annual Merom Bluff Chautauqua takes place here - since 1905, and has had gust speakers such as: William Jennings Bryan, William H. Taft, Billy Sunday, etc. The event lasts 10 days.
