There was no Presbyterian church in Bowral in 1888 when the first service was held. Berrima to the south was the main settlement at that time. When a site was purchased for the new church arrangements were made to lay the two stones & when taking into account a newspaper article quoted in the website listed below, the stones were laid on 3 September 1938.

The foundation stone near the entrance door is worded:

This stone was laid by The Rev. C.E. Turnbull Moderator of the Presbytery of Goulburn to commemorate the jubilee of the first Presbyterian service in Bowral 1888 - 1938.

The other stone doesn't actually mention the commemoration.
