The hospital was bought by the State of Montana and thereafter run as a state facility. The community of Warm Springs WAS the hospital. Other than the post office, everything in the community was part of the hospital, including this garage. The hospital operated a farm, raising cattle and tending a large garden. By 1886, long before Montana took it over there were thirty-two buildings comprising the hospital which was on 1640 acres of land.
The date on this garage is embossed into a circular white painted medallion and painted black. We're not sure if the medallion is concrete, terra cotta, wood or some other material. It could use a new coat of paint, though.
