The Nowra Show is held in January each year, the hottest month of Summer. The Woodchop Shade Pavilions replaced open bench seating & provide shade to the many spectators who flock to the wood chopping events.
The pavilions architectural style mirrors that of the main pavilion built in 1904. There are three in all with one taking up the full length of the wood chopping arena.
They were officially opened 12th February 1999 by His Excellency the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC Governor of New South Wales. Gordon Samuels was the 36th Governor of NSW. Born 1923 in England of Australian parents he moved to Australia in 1952. He became a Queen's Council in 1964. He was President of the NSW Bar Association from 1971 - 72 plus held office in many learned societies.
He was Governor of NSW from 1 Mar 1996 to 28 February 2001.
