This elevator is the only one along the old railway in Charlo, which is about 4 miles west on Highway 212 from Highway 93 in Lake County.

Steel clad and still in pretty good condition, this elevator has been out of use for some time, but still stands as a landmark for the little town of Charlo. The words "Consolidated Elevators" in script can still be read on the west side of the elevator.

We have found one reference to Consolidated Dairies having owned an elevator and Consolidated Dairies was apparently based in Charlo. Consolidated Dairies was a dairy cooperative founded probably in the early 1900s. In 1930 it was bought by Darigold, a Seattle based dairy coop.

If there were ever any other elevators along the railway in Charlo they are now gone and have left no trace whatever.
