Brookton railway station was opened in June 1889,called Seabrook, (named after the first settler in the area, John Seabrook), however to avoid confusion over a similar name it was changed to Brookton.
Brookton Station was once at a junction along the Great Southern Railway, with a branch line leading off to Corrigin,(now dis-used ). Passenger trains on the Great Southern Line from Northam to Albany ceased operation in the 1960's, the line is now used for freight, mainly carting grain.
The station is now an art gallery for the local artists
