This means of advertising products was popular yesteryear. There was a move to restore them to their original glory but fortunately some remain to remind us of our heritage.

This sign which advertises Kinkara Tea has been painted in such a manner as to produce a 3D affect. The black Kinkara sign in the background is overlaid by another Kinkara sign which has faded to the point that all colour has disappeared & only the outline remains on that great Australian building material - galvanised iron or gal.

Alternatively perhaps that yellowy colour was painted initially then the black lettering & then grey paint over the yellow background to form the Kinkara at the front.

I don't know but which ever way it was painted it is a great example of a Ghost Sign & a fine example of the artist's skills.

Kinkara Tea was blended & marketed by James Robinson Love who ran a wholesale grocery in Sydney. Kinkara is a corruption of Kincora, a tea estate in Ceylon. In 1897 Kinkara tea was registered as a brand name and became widely known.

The information in the preceding paragraph was obtained from the Australian Dictionary of Biography - Love, James Robinson (1836–1914) viz (visit link)
