Amazingly, this little schoolhouse still has its bell tower (and the bell within), which was mounted atop a portico over the entrance to the school.

As yet we have not a lot of information on this school. What we do know is that it was originally a rural school on Snowshoe Creek, east of Avon, and in 1989 was moved to Cottonwood City in Deer Lodge, Montana. Cottonwood City is a collection of old buildings from various places in Powell County. It is on Main Street between the Frontier Museum and the Powell County Museum and contains this school, an old post office, church, pioneer cabin and several other vintage buildings.
