Uluru / Ayers Rock is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It is located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 350 km southwest of Alice Springs. It is an inselberg, literally "island mountain", an isolated remnant left after the slow erosion of an original mountain range.

Uluru offers five walking tracks to the visitors. The Mala walk (2 km return) follows the line of the Rock for a part of the way and offers some wonderful views. A free ranger-guided Mala Walk departs at 8:00 am daily, from the Mala Walk car park.
