The BV-347 Chinook, the "Winged Chinook" is a modified CH-47A fitted with a 100" fuselage plug, four bladed rotors, a raised rear mast, retractable landing gear, a fly-by-wire system, a gondola which could be lowered from the cockpit where a pilot (facing to the rear) could fly the Chinook and, most remarkably, a variable geometry fixed wing. The wings could be removed and stored inside the aircraft.
