Desmond was a small farming town at the crossroads of Desmond Road and Park Road about 30 kn NE of Napanee. In addition to farms, there was the church and the Township School. However, as modern transportation methods emerged, folks moved on to larger centres.
Desmond United Church began life in 1879 as a Canadian Methodist Church. In 1925 it, along with many other churches, became a member of the United Church of Canada. However, numbers dwindled to the point where the church eventually was shuttered, and finally demolished in 1867.
today, all that remains are the front steps and the marker.
