Located at ScienceWorks is a bronze bear sculpture of a mother and her two cubs. The sculpture is near a wildlife habitat garden called the 'Black Bear Garden'. The following verbiage is taken from ScienceWorks
website and reads:
In 2005, Ashland GardenScapes broke ground to begin a garden project at ScienceWorks. Donating all their time and resources, they created the "Black Bear Garden". The black bear sculpture originally greeted guests to the former Pacific Northwest Museum of Natural History that is now ScienceWorks. The sculpture, created by artist Ronald Stuart, M.D., now graces its namesake garden, surrounded by pathways, rocks and native plantings all offering a spectacular view of Grizzly Peak to the North.
The garden is a “xeriscape” (pronounced zeri), from the Greek word xeri meaning dry, which means it is a low-water, water wise landscape. Xeric plants are Native and Mediterranean plants that are well-adapted to western gardens and selected for their beauty, low nutrient requirements, adaptability to hot, dry, windy conditions and their ability to attract beneficial insects and birds.
I could not located any other information online regarding this bear sculpture nor the artist who created it other than finding out a Dr. Ronald Stuart who practices in Eagle Point, OR.
