On the front top of the monument: "ERECTED IN HONORED MEMORY OF THE MEN AND WOMEN OF JOHNSON CITY WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN WW II"
On the bottom front: "ERECTED & DEDICATED FRANK A. JOHNSON CHAPTER 15 AMERICAN WAR DADS DEC 4, 1949"
This monument lists war dead on each side. The lists on the sides and back are by service: army, navy, marine corps, air force. It is by the road in front of the former American Legion Post 758.
There is a sign showing the company that is selling the building, Marchuska Brothers (607) 786-3762. An article about the sale of the American Legion Building to the construction company in 2012 stated that the monument would be preserved or moved if necessary with the cooperation of Johnson City.
