The history of North Andover goes back to 1646 when the land was incorporated as Andover. As the settlement grew it was divided with the original town becoming North Andover in 1855, centered southern bank of the Merrimack River.

The historic Main Street district borders the large mills that were the life-blood of the town for many years. The town offices and fire department are located across the street from the post office.
