My GPSr measured 8 m elevation, but not sure of the actual elevation.
This particular long weekend (8-11 June, 2007) our youth group (Manning Pathfinders) was supposed to be heading south past Newcastle to go bushwalking for 4 days, 3 nights, but luckily there was enough forecasts that we did not get caught up in the multiple disasters of that weekend. It was also the time that the unladened bulk carrier MV Pasha Bulker ran aground near Nobbys Beach.
4,000 residents had to evacuate their homes from the Maitland area.
There were multiple of deaths/drownings from some cars being swept off a road or bridge.
