The Wet Tropics of Queensland are a World Heritage Site since 1988. The tropical rainforests in this region are of great natural beauty and home to a large number of plant and animal species, many of them endemic. About 15% of the area is protected as national parks, one of them being Daintree National Park where the gallery photos were taken.
