Edificio República (Republic Building), designed by AIA Gold Medal winner César Pelli, is one of modern office buildings located in San Nicolás barrio (district) in Buenos Aires.
Edificio República, originally built for Bank of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay in 1994-1996, changed owners several times and finally was purchased by the group IRSA S.A. (May 2008). The building is notable for its large convex front facade facing Avenida Eduardo Madero and the Rio de la Plata. Edificio República was constructed on a narrow, triangular building site at the union of the Avenida Madero and Bouchard Street. Entire facade is made from white aluminum panels and different types of glass with the curved metal bars enhancing its aesthetic effect. The building has 3 underground parking, a ground floor and a conference room, a mezzanine and 20 floors for offices. On the roof is heliport.
