A large campground with 33 sites, including group sites, this is a great wilderness campground, on a little used paved forestry road. It is open from Memorial Day through Labor day. We passed by in April and had the road to ourselves, but I imagine it's somewhat busier in the middle of the year. Full information for the campground, from the USDA website, is below.
McGillivray Campground
This campground is located adjacent to 90-mile long Lake Koocanusa. It is an undiscovered treasure on the west side of the lake; opposite Hwy 37, and 7 miles north of Libby Dam. The campground has 33 sites with tables and fire rings and able to accomodate up to 40' rv. Campground roads and parking spurs are paved. Amenities include potable water, vault toilets, swimming beach, pavilions and a fully developed boat ramp with dock.

There are 2 group sites within the campground that are large enough for up to 5 RVs and 25 people. These sites include three tent pads, three picnic tables, a large cooking grill and a fire ring. These 2 group sites in the campground can be reserved through Recreation.gov and are $30.00 per night.

There are 2 large accessible group shelters both equipped with a rock fireplace and multiple tables two large cooking grills, horseshoe pits and a fire ring. Both sites have a large grassy area adjoining them.

Group Shelter One (1) can be reserved through Recreation.gov starting at $60.00 per night, this group shelter can accommodate up to 200 people and no more than 20 RV's for overnight use. This site has a large paved parking lot there is also a paved path leading to the beach. Electrical hookups are available within the shelter; however you must provide your own generator. This site is great for family gatherings. Firewood is provided.

Group Shelter Two (2) is available for Day Use Only and is on a first come-first serve basis. This shelter is located at the beach; it also has a large paved parking lot and a paved path leading to the beach.
