Built in 1920 as a whites only school, this served as the segregated high school until a new desegregated high school was built in 1971. The building continued to house the desegregated middle school until a new middle school was completed in 1999. It now sits vacant with lead paint, asbestos and other issues preventing its public use. Other nearby buildings associated with the high school continued to be used by Lexington school district 3 for adult education and other purposes.
Listed on the National Register of Historic places in 1982
