Kata Tjuta, meaning "many heads" in the Anangu language, is one of the large rock formations in the Uluru / Kata Tjuta National Park. It is 16 miles away from Uluru (Ayers Rock) and equally impressing.
This hike takes you through the Valley of the Winds, an impressing valley between the steep sides of two of the domes. Although not all passages of the track are easy, the truly unique landscape is really worth a visit. If the whole circuit is too long for you, you can simply return after one of the lookouts.
Since it can become very hot during daytime, we recommend to start this hike early in the morning. If it gets too hot, the track will be closed by the park management for security reasons. There is drinking water available halfway on the track, but please remember to bring enough water yourself nevertheless due to the hot climate.
Please also note that Kata Tjuta is a sacred site of the Anangu people.
