This 1955 stone (marble?) work by Gunnfriour Jonsdottir depicts a woman standing straight, wearing a long pleated skirt and with her right hand on a pillar. Her left hand is at her side and holds an indistinct object.
The work is entitled Landnamskonan..... which Google is not able to translate...but if the last "n" is removed... Google translates the word as "Pioneer" which seems appropriate.
