The Church of the Holy Trinity and St.Augustine of Canterbury was built 1975-77 to a design by Eva and Liam Bannon. It replaced two earlier churches in the town centre. Following leaks the flat roof was replaced by a pitched roof in 1987 designed by Chris Fanning.

It is prominent on the roundabout at the south end of the High Street, opposite the Tesco superstore entrance.

The bell tower is a purpose built iron girder structure carrying a single bell which is chimed by means of a crank attached to the clapper, moved by a rope pulled from inside the church.
