Trapper and fishing/hunting guide Charlie Boostrom and his wife Petra had been living in a small cabin on beautiful Clearwater Lake, but with the arrival of children, a larger home was needed. Charlie began building this historic 14 room lodge in 1922 and completed it four years later. It remains the area’s oldest and largest building constructed of hand-hewn logs, using pegs rather than nails. They opened their home to guests and operated the lodge until 1946 when it was sold. The lodge remains one of the region’s most beautiful vacation resorts as well as a canoeing outfitting facility. The charming wrap-around porch provides the ideal spot for enjoying the spectacular view, and guests may warm up by the impressive stone fireplace while waiting for dinner to be served. History of the founding family adorns the interior walls.
