The 7th in a series of Virginia murals, this painting depicts the many aspects of Native American life in the area, both past and present. Located on the external corner walls of the Department of Public Utilities Building, the Ojibwe people and their clans are portrayed dancing, hunting, ricing, building birch bark canoes, and serving their country in the military. Other images include, The Little Spirit Tree on Lake Superior and symbols of each of their clans, plus specific individuals noted for their contributions as parents, teachers, doctors, musicians, athletes, and community leaders. The mural was painted in 2014 by artist Susan Martinsen.
