Both an historic church and an active church, Christ Church is in downtown Binghamton. It has a red door, a sign of an Episcopal Church, but has multiple explanations of the tradition. It was founded in 1810, regrouped in 1816, consecrated in 1818 with the name Christ Church, built a wood Gothic church. The current church's architect was Richard Upjohn. It was built 1854-1855. A chime of 11 bells were added in 1903. At the centennial several upgrades were added, Italian marble, mosaic floor, many stained glass windows, limestone columns. Most of the above is from the church website history page.
