Construction of the Grant County Courthouse began July 1917. The architect was George Keith. It is built of terra cotta, brick and concrete. It was built in classical revival style with columns and cornices.
The building was completed in 1918. The total cost was $63,263.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
Currently the courthouse houses District Court - main office, Civil and Probation, two District Court courtrooms, the Auditor's Office - Licensing, Recording and Voter Registration, Human Resources, and the law library.
An annex was added later that houses other offices. The jail and Law and Justice Center is the newest addition behind the courthouse.
