Jaroslav Seifer se narodil nedaleko v Borivojove ulici a tuto obecnou školu navštevoval v letech 1907 – 1912. Zde se také poprvé zamiloval do slecny ucitelky Marie Gebauerové, která pocházela z rodiny filologa a bohémisty J. Gebauera.

"Národní umelec Jaroslav Seifert (23. zárí 1901 Žižkov – 10. ledna 1986 Praha) byl ceský básník, spisovatel, novinár a prekladatel. Patril mezi cleny hnutí Devetsil, stál na pocátku ryze ceského umeleckého smeru poetismu. Je jediným ceským nositelem Nobelovy ceny za literaturu (10.12. 1984), navzdory komplikovaným vztahum s komunistickou mocí obdržel i titul národního umelce."

Jaroslav Seifert (September 23, 1901 Zizkov - January 10, 1986) was a Czech poet, writer, journalist and translator. He was among the members of the movement Devetsil, stood at the beginning of the purely Czech Art Movement poetism. It is the only Czech Nobel Prize for Literature (12/10 1984), despite complicated relations with the communist power and received the title of National Artist.

Jaroslav Seifert was born nearby in Borivojova Street and the elementary school he attended from 1907 - 1912.


The place:
Podnet k výstavbe školy v tehdejší Palackého ulici byl dán 14. 9. 1882 usnesením obecního zastupitelstva. Plán budovy vypracovali vrchní inženýr Josef Bayer a mestský inženýr Rehurek, stavbu provedl v letech 1892 – 1894 architekt Jan Hrabe.

Již 20. 9. 1893 bylo slavnostne dáno do užívání prízemí a první patro, druhé a tretí patro bylo dokonceno 1. 1. 1894. Budova tehdy patrila k nejmodernejším v zemi, byla vytápena ústredním topením, ve tretím patre mela k dispozici velký sál – kapli, která byla slavnostne vysvecena za prítomnosti c. k. zemského školního inspektora Františka Weniga. Dvanáct tríd školy navštevovalo 729 žáku, které vyucovalo dvanáct pedagogu.

The decision to build this school adopted 14. 9. 1882 municipal council Zizkov. Building plan drafted chief engineer Josef Bayer and city engineer Rehurek, construction was carried out between 1892 - 1894 by architect Jan Hrabe.

20. 9. 1893 was officially put into use on the ground floor and first floor, second and third floor was completed on January 1, 1894. The building was one of the most modern in the country, with the central heating, and chapel. Twelve classes attended by 729 school pupils who was taught by twelve teachers.
