The topographic maps identify this building as both the Mars Hill School and Church. The sign on the front of it only says Mars Hill. Though there is no sign at the road with service times, it is still clearly in use, if not as a church, then as a chapel for the adjoining cemetery.
Some information on the former school can be gleaned from the MOGenWeb site. It has a nice bell tower for calling the children into school, and the country folk to church.
