Built in 1892 the Carbondale Municipal Building is city hall and a courthouse. The clock sits in a tower that is on the left side of the town hall.

It is Romanesque Revival architectural style where no alterations have been made to the building since it was built. The primary part of the building is 3 stories with an attic level. Facing the building is a 5 story tower with a clock and topped with a pyramidal roof. The architect was Truman I Lacey.
