The plaque to commemorate the First Anzac Day Dawn Service is located on the floor of the nave of St John's Anglican Church , close to the altar.It is fitting that the tradition started in Albany as this was the departure port for the first soldiers to leave Australia for the Middle East
The Dawn Service observed on Anzac Day has its origins in a military routine is still followed by the Australian Army today.Each Anzac Day Dawn Service around the country and throughout New Zealand many thousands turn up at the various war memorials before dawn to attend the service
