This tree was planted and dedicated on July 20, 1969 just a few days after the first humans walked on the moon. California became a state on September 9, 1850 and has just surpassed its 100th birthday by close to 19 years as this plaque was placed. Even today, California is not yet 200 years old unlike some east coast state, which are already are. This plaque should have never been placed with such a math error.
