Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led the country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union, ending slavery, and rededicating the nation to nationalism, equal rights, liberty and democracy. This monument is dedicated to Lincoln and marks the highest elevation point along the Lincoln Highway and Interstate 80.

DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH: I did not notice the "(On back of sculpture, proper right shoulder:) RUSSIN/1959" located on the backside, parking lot side, of the sculpture. Unless it is overgrown with brush I do believe it is missing.
