This antelope crossing is unusual because of the silhouette utilized on the sign to depict this deer-like animal native to the area.

We spotted this unusual antelope crossing sign a few miles NE of Alturas. This sign is newer and isn't shown on Google Maps. We have seen other antelope crossing signs which are uncommon to see along highways and roads, but this particular sign depicts an unusual silhouette of this animal which is native to this area. This graphic is more detailed than the customary antelope crossing sign. We're guessing the highway department has updated this animal's depiction on signs from here on out.

If you've never seen an antelope before, they have very nice antlers that remind us of the grazing animals of the Safari Desert in Africa.
