I don't know how common this is, but this is a VFW with an eight lane bowling alley, not to mention a really nice neon sign on the roof.

Twice a winner of the National Outstanding Community Service award, in 2003 and again in 2012, Post 3596 holds an anniversary party every year in mid November. This year's party was the 36th and they are held to honor the year the VFW was rebuilt, after it burnt down in a fire in 1977.
When, or after, they did rebuild they added a really nice neon sign, about 12 feet tall in total. The neon part, the "VFW", is about 7 or 8 feet in height and still works perfectly.
Located on Lynch Street at Pierce Street, this VFW houses a bar, casino, pool tables, Plains' largest dance floor and banquet hall and its only bowling alley. The post is a major contributor to local charities. The Plains school system annually receives between $5,000 and $10,000 from the VFW for scholarships, athletics or other school needs and, as well, the post recently made a $50,000 donation to the Plains hospital for improvements and equipment.
