[EN] Excavations have been able to establish that the tomb was violated during the Roman period, but also, afterwards, it underwent new degradations, in the 17th century in particular, during the construction of the neighboring road.
The last six blocks of the monument still intact were dragged by order of Louis-Philippe into the courtyard of the Château of Meudon in order to reconstitute the monument there. Unfortunately, and strangely, this reconstitution of a covered alley was transformed around 1860 into a pyramid. This pyramid was knocked down during the Franco-Prussian war by Prussian troops, which further damaged the stones. Later, Janssen, director of the observatory, had a monument in the form of a dolmen erected in the same place. It is this reconstitution, more romantic than scientific, that we can see today. Originally, the monument appears to be an alley tomb over 10 meters long.
