This little skateboard park has been dedicated to the memory of Gertrude Vacura Bryce. Born October 18, 1915 in Camas Prairie, Sanders County, Gertrude passed away on October 22, 2002 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
Every year in early June, the town of Plains has a festival they call Plains Day. As part of the festival in 2009 this skateboard park had its grand opening, occurring on Saturday, June 6, 2009, with a ribbon cutting ceremony, the unveiling of the park's dedication sign, a blessing and speeches by several dignitaries and others. This was followed by a show of skill by several of the local skateboarders.
The park is in the east corner of the city park, behind the tennis courts and beside the basketball court. Not a large park, it has a railing, several small obstacles and even a picnic bench in the middle, all on a concrete pad. It was created solely with donated money from many citizens and businesses in the area.
