Území obce bylo osídleno prakticky nepretržite od dob lovcu mamutu až do naší doby. Dnešní Pavlov je poprvé zmínen v 11. století, kdy patril ke staroboleslavské kapitule. Pocátkem 13. století byl nad obcí založen hrad Devicky a v roce 1334 Pavlov prešel do mikulovského panství, kde zustal až do roku 1848. Pavlov byl puvodne slovanská osada, ale pocátkem 13. století se zde usadilo nemecky mluvící obyvatelstvo, které zde žilo až do poválecného odsunu v letech 1945-46. Hlavním zdrojem bohatství obce bylo vinarství. Už pocátkem 17. století se zde pestovala vinná réva na více než polovine pudy. Vzhledem ke své poloze Pavlov zažil mnoho prutahu vojsk a utrpení. Nejhorší pohromu znamenala tricetiletá válka, kterou neprežila celá ctvrtina obyvatel obce. Nejvíce obyvatel v Pavlove žilo v roce 1900 - 1 117. Po válce a dosídlení obce to bylo 658 obyvatel a v roce 1991 zde bylo žilo 546 osob.

The territory of the village was inhabited almost continuously since the mammoth hunters to our time. Today Pavlov is first mentioned in the 11th century, when it belonged to Stará chapter. In the early 13th century was a castle above the town Devicky and in 1334 he moved to Pavlov Mikulov estate, where he remained until 1848. Pavlov was originally Slavic settlement, but in the early 13th century settled here in German-speaking population, who lived there until postwar population in 1945-46. The main source of wealth of the village was the winery. Already in the early 17th century, the grapes grew to more than half of the land. Due to its location Pavlov experienced many delays troops and suffering. The worst disaster meant the Thirty Years' War, which survived a quarter of the population of the village. Most residents in Paul lived in 1900-1 117. After the war and resettled village's population was 658 and in 1991 there were 546 people lived.
