(front base): In Memory of the Saint Louis Police Officers who have given their lives in the performance of their duty.

(Rear Base): Let the well-being of the people be the supreme law

Proper Description: Standing figure of police officer with head down and eyes lowered. Figure is dressed in police uniform and holds hat in proper left hand. Proper left knee slightly bent. Sculpture rests on granite pedestal, with pedestal on flat granite base." ~ Smithsonian American Art Museum

Remarks: "Sculpture commissioned by St. Louis Police Commission and Department, with funds raised from private sources. Sculpture donated to the City of St. Louis by the Police Commission. ." ~ Smithsonian American Art Museum
