This hospital staged its grand opening on July 17th, 1954 and has slowly and continuously grown since then. This is the major hospital in the BC Boundary area, serving a large area, though there are other smaller hospitals in the area.
One of the most recent additions to the hospital was opened in 2001. It was a new emergency entrance, the dedication plaque for which was unveiled on September 8th, 2001. It was placed by the Masons' Fidelity Lodge #32. The plaque is beside, just to the south of the present emergency entrance.
