This branch of the DLR starts at Woolwich Arsenal on the south side of the River Thames. The tracks then pass beneath the river, going north, and emerge just to the east of this station. The tracks then continue west to join up with the rest of the DLR system at Canning Town.

At North Woolwich, King George V is to the northern end of Pier Road conveniently located for local shops and with direct pedestrian links to the Woolwich Ferry and bus terminal at North Woolwich.
North Woolwich Old Station Museum on Pier Road is a family-friendly museum with lots of hands-on activities for youngsters. The museum holds carriages, locomotives, a 1920s ticket office and other railway and local history related exhibits.
