U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Benchmark DN0741 - Sunset, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

Hubbard Road is a very unimproved dirt road between the railroad tracks and Spur 511 (which follows the path that US 81 once did). Take it heading north, and simply be on the lookout for milepost 59 on the east side of the railroad tracks. It's probably OK to park here, but please be aware of any traffic and do not block them.

This one isn't difficult to find, but it's not easy, either: You'll want to be wearing heavy clothing, as there are briars galore here that will inflict heavy damage. They're spot-on about being west of milepost 59 -- the sign is still along the tracks -- and the witness post is still there. Beware of using the datasheet's coordinates, as they'll place you on the literal wrong side of the tracks if you're not careful to bring a copy of the datasheet (with directions) with you. If you stand directly west of the milepost, you'll spot the benchmark easily.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1952 0.6 MI SE FROM SUNSET. 0.6 MILE SOUTHEAST ALONG THE FORT WORTH AND DENVER CITY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT SUNSET, 68 FEET WEST OF MILEPOST 59, 40 FEET WEST OF THE WEST RAIL, 41 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 81, 3.6 FEET NORTH OF A WITNESS POST, SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST WHICH PROJECTS 0.2 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
