Built in 1850, and is a 2 1/2-story, brick dwelling on a random fieldstone foundation in a vernacular Georgian style.

It has a 1 1/2-story rear wing, gable roof, and two-story front porch. The Lords Valley Post Office was housed in the dwelling from 1853 to 1955.

The Lord family were originally from Liverpool, England and came to this area in 1810. The house was situated on a stage coach road and used as a stop and hotel. The family were active in civic affairs and generous to the town donating land for the free cemetery and th eland where the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Dept is located.
