This Grade II listed Church used to be All Saints, it was made redundant in 1969 but reopened in 1989 as the Holy Family and All Saints Roman Catholic Church after major refurbishment by the Roman Catholic community.

It was built in 1841 by Brown of Norwich in grey Gault brick and stone dressings with knapped flint panels and a grey slate roof. Of cruciform plan with nave, north and south aisles, chancel and two transepts, and west and south porches in the lancet Gothic style, it is capable of seating 700.

In 1969, after being declared redundant it was acquired by Braintree District Council and turned into a youth club, but this venture did not succeed. The building lay empty and unused for several years, until it was purchased in 1987 by the Diocese of Brentwood for use as a Catholic church replacing The Holy Family Church on Newland Street (corner with Avenue Road). Plater Inkpen of Tollesbury were appointed architects for the adaptation of the building, which in 1988 had been listed grade II, as a building of special architectural and historical interest. It was reopened and dedicated as a Catholic church on the feast of All Saints, 1st November, 1989.

There are two faces to the clock, rather tucked away on the north and south sides of the tall west entrance above the porch lancet windows, in the parapet gables, parallel with the direction of Guithavon Road. Both faces are painted black with gold hour/minute markings and roman numerals. The hands are also painted gold. There is no other wording on the faces to give a clue as to the maker.
